In June 2010 Pirelli won the tender and signed the contract to become the new single Formula 1® tyre supplier.
As The world championship was due to start in March 2011 by September 2010 Pirelli was to provide the F1® Teams precise information on the new tyres. There were only a few months to develop and test a new competitive product.
How did Pirelli succeed in the race against time? How did the organization adapt to this new challenge?
The workshop, organized by Università Bocconi – CRIOS and the Master of Science in Economics and Management of Innovation and Technology – and Fondazione Silvio Tronchetti Provera, focused on the organizational drives of Pirelli’s success in Formula 1® and draw more general assumptions on R&D in accelerated contexts.
